Metlac Group’s customers are the world’s metal packaging manufacturers. They drive the R&D work of the Metlac Group laboratories where, through innovation, Metlac Group looks to continuously develop new technologies providing customers with marketing possibilities, food contact safety, environmental compliance and cost reduction and efficiency benefits up and down the supply chain.
Metlac Group offers the widest possible range of internal and external coatings for sectors of the metal packaging market from Beer and Beverage through Food containers to Caps and Closures.
Today the majority of Metlac Group’s production consists of BPAni coatings. In addition the firm is at the forefront of development in UV and LED cured inks and varnishes, low VOC and waterbased systems and special effect coatings for enhanced decoration and final product appeal.
Metlac Group’s UV inks and varnishes are capable of satisfying high mechanical demand situations with strong resistance to the most severe sterilisation treatments.
The Group is developing pigmented coatings cured by Electron Beam (EB) for direct application to metal for external decoration and there is scope to develop 100% solids food contact grade lacquers.
Metlac Group is now supplying customers with a new BPA–free waterbased polyolefin dispersion (POD) technology.
The products from this technology are targeted at the Beer and Beverage, Food D&I and EOE sectors.
The benefits include levels of internal performance similar or superior to conventional BPA containing products and the possibility to meet potential future legislation regarding limits on, for example, formaldehyde and styrene.
Metlac Group will continue to pursue new technologies with the objective of ensuring the metal packaging remains a preferred choice for Food and Beverage companies.
